French manicure on pointy claws + snake update.

Hey there!

How is your weekend going? I hope you've been able to lay down and relax... I tried my best and I think I overdid it because right now as I am typing I can't figure out whether or not I am fully awake.  Therefore please forgive anything inappropriate that may make its entrance in this post.

Today's manicure, however, is very appropriate (as in conventional). Let aside the shape of my nails -that I can't get enough of-. A french manicure; what can I say in its favor? Let's just acknowledge it's become such a boring noun binomial lately. I am sure you've all seen it a million times and thought: (i) classy, or (ii) slutty. I don't know about you, but for me it all depends in how wide the french tip is.

This one feels a little different to me because of those pointy claws. It adds just a tinge of fiercyness (if that's even a word) to a classic, and I like that. I wore this to a meeting, all lawyered up, and expected the others to see in them a hint that I'm not your everyday lawyer. That there's more to me than just a suit and legalese. Have I succeeded? I will never know. What matters is that the hint was there for anyone to see.
For this I used two coats of Kiko Nude, freehanded the white tips and added one coat of Kiko French Baby Pink. Top coat & go!

Snake update: my new baby has been with me for nearly a month. Just let me tell you she's high maintenance ;) I'm busy taming her down, avoiding her bites and teaching her to eat thawed mice; it's proving hard and requires all my patience and care. But it'll all be worth it if I prevent her from becoming an 8ft monster... For now, she's just the cutest baby snake ever:
Due to her feisty attitude I'm thinking on naming her Furia (Fury, in Spanish). It sounds feminine yet something you wouldn't want to mess with. The Fury. Yay or nay?

Take care,

Simple French.

Howdy! :)

I hope you had a great weekend, wherever y'all are. Mine was totally f*cked up, to be honest. I worked all day long both Saturday and Sunday and I get the feeling I will have the same plan next weekend. Yay. I am glad The Boyfriend made it as bearable as it could be, that's sweet. [Nah, that's not my way of knowing if or when he reads my blog... ha!].

Anyboo, I had the Criminal Code event last Friday and it was totally nice to hear my name in the middle of professional acknowledgements; my ego was flattered. And completely satisfied. Here's what I had on my paws:
Ring included :)

I'm out 'til Wednesday!

New Year's Eve - 1st post of the year.

Hello & happy 2013!

I hope you're not superstitious and are not looking at 2013 reluctantly and with a bad feeling, 'cuz that's not the best way to start the year ;) I mostly believe that what goes around comes around, karma and all that stuff. I am safe. Sort of.

I have to admit I had some trouble sticking to the Spanish tradition of swallowing 12 grapes, one for each stroke before midnight. I was laughing because I put 13 grapes on The Boyfriend's cup and right in the end he exclaimed "fack, I lost count!". In summary, I ended up with around 8 grapes on my mouth because I couldn't swallow quick enough. Hilarious, but I hope that won't make 2013 any shittier than it is already, potentially.

Enough bla bla, on to my simple make up for New Year's Eve; face washed and black liner. I swear I had some blush on, but here's the proof I have the skin of an undead.
As for the nails, I opted for a re-version of Dita Von Teese's nude half moons and added grey french tips. I used Anny Open my Heart (that somehow I always want to call Rip my Heart Open; yuck!) as a base and China Glaze Stone Cold for the tips. Fist picture is matte Stone Cold, next one is topped off with Poshé.
I matched my dress somehow :)
So again, special occasion makes me show my face in here not once, but twice! Happy new year, ladies! Take care!

Breast Cancer awareness month. Pink manicure nº 5

Heeeeello!

Quick post again, I've been busy as hell! Those are the nails I was rocking until an hour ago. I was in the mood for a delicate and sweet thing (yeah, for a contrast) so I tried a nude from Essence's new collection, Cotton Candy.
I was super impressed at first! Great opacity (this is two coats) and drying time. It changed me from Dior Ivory, and seemed a cheap and nice solution. BUT this beauty has turned into a nightmare when air bubbles started appearing after a day of wear underneath the first coat of polish. While in court today a part of it lifted and came off completely, just as if it was a false nail. So thanks Essence, I spent the rest of the morning with my hands in my pockets. So appropriate.
Have a great end of the week!

Girly french manicure

Hey!

It's obvious I'm on holidays: two posts in a week, yay! My nails suck right now, and every time I stare at them I just want to cry. First world women problems. I spent one entire day disassembling my furniture and carrying it up and down, and another entire day reassembling the furniture and placing it where I thought it belonged in my new appartment. Add a lot of dust to the equation and you will obtain ten tortured nails. I had spent quite a lot of time shortening them before such ordeal, but apparently it wasn't enough *sobs* So while I pamper them and transform them into ten long and healthy nails, I will post some pictures from my archive of un-posted manis.
This french one is from a little while back; I used Sally Hasen Insta Dry Petal Pusher (two coats) and Zoya Kimber for the tips. I just needed to cover that nasty nail line...

I'm not trying to make you girls jealous, but I will be spending 1h15 in the hands of a skilled masseur this afternoon, in order to relax and de-stress. I can't wait!

Keep it up, we're Thursday already! One day to go for freedom.

Blue and Grey french

Hey there!
I started working on a big law firm a few months ago, and honestly I was worried about what colours I would be allowed to wear at work. I wasn’t brave enough to go and ask my boss, he wouldn’t have a clue anyways. I mean, it’s not the kind of stuff you think about every day, not even when drafting the Company’s protocol (just imagine: Clause 21.3.3 – Nail lacquer: Allowed colours. C’mon…). So I preferred to be more subtle. I remember starting with a grey polish (Mavala Elle’s Grey, a limited edition), then some safe red, then pink, bright pink, some shimmer, some blue, and so on. I wore everything as a full manicure. And then…
I did this one. It’s 2 coats of Zoya Dove and China Glaze First Mate for the tips. I didn’t freehand the tips, I never tried and I KNOW I would fail, so I bought Nailene’s French Tip Guides instead and job done!
After such a fuss, such planning and trying to be smarter than smart, no one reacted. At first I thought “I’ve been losing my time”, and then… I realized the best reaction you can expect in this ecosystem is that nothing happens. Think about it: if no one remarks anything it simply means that it’s normal. Now, were blue nails normal before I started working in that department? Maybe, or maybe not. We’ll never know.
I have to point out that no one remarked anything out loud immediately, but my boss told me at my 6 months evaluation “Well, I like to have different people on my team. Yeah, you’ll have to admit that you’re quite special, with your nails and your longboard…”. The longboard wasn’t mine, but that’s another story. The nails most certainly were! And yes, I’m on a department that works somehow apart from the rest, where the protocol becomes less tangible, where me and my nails suit better.
I’m currently on a different department (for 4 more months) where I have to keep a low profile nail-speaking. So welcome “boring” manis, and see you in the weekends in-your-face-goodness.
I felt like doing a revival post, so I hope you enjoyed it!
Take care!
