ABC Challenge: Letter D - Doll House.

Hello polishaholics!

I’ll be honest (when have I been dishonest?!): I consider this manicure a new episode of my Fail series. I agree we could hold a debate on the true sense of “fail” according to its etymology opposed to its current meaning in a living and continuously evolving language. It’s of no use, so we’ll basically skip that part; with that said, I am not going to censure your comments below, I am just not feeling to embody the Grammar Inquisition today.
Fail or not, I just hated this manicure. A LOT. It lasted me around two hours, and just because I was too late to redo the whole thing before going out. The recipe for such an abominable combination is: two coats of Rituals Mystic Amethyst + one coat of China Glaze Doll House.
Doll House seems such a great glitter to add on top of any manicure. But alas, I wouldn’t want it in my stash even if it was offered to me as a present. Nasty thing… Too much clear base, too little glitter, too big glitter, you name it. I had to fish for the glitter every time, and then place it conveniently (or not, as you can see). The problem is that the base is too thick and does not allow you to move the glitter around, so you can end up with massive amounts of glitter in one spot, combined to bald spots. Wow, that was trrrrrrouble! I know now why it has seated among my untried ones for a year and a half *sigh*
Nevertheless, the good thing about this manicure is that I have two polishes less in my untried pile. I’ll have to give Mystic Amethyst another go though; such a vampy red color cannot suffer the consequences of being paired with rubbishy-Doll House. Amiright?

First swatch. Fail swatch.

Aloha! :)

I was recently contacted by Born Pretty Store to review a couple of their products of my choice. If you scroll down, you'll see I picked some Ferrari nail stickers. The question you should be asking yourself right now is: "why?" ("wtf" and funny faces are also accepted as good remarks). I have no idea! I thought it might be fun, I guess. And it has been so, but in a different way than I imagined...

First off: this is what you get if you order this item in number 103 (they're on sale right now, in case you're still on to take this amazing trip to nonsense-land after this post). Two ranges of 8 different sized stickers, with different patterns. The main question of this post, you'll have noticed by now, is: WHY? And again, I have no idea!
As the offered sizes didn't match my nails and I was way too lazy to cut the stickers in the right shape I decided to do a simple accent nail with it. Thumbs up ;)
Now my comments are the following: (i) this is a VIP sticker; you nail has to be freakin' huge for the sticker to fit completely. (ii) it has not been designed for curved nails; you can easily see how the sticker could not lay even and smooth. Hence the fail. Keep watchin'.
This is the final result of carefully applying the sticker on my thumb, after pulling (and thus slightly deforming) the sticker. Yuck.
Sorry, you can't un-see now!
I decided to give it a second chance, on my middle finger this time. Slightly better, but still shameful. I mean, honest, would you walk out the door with this on?
Needless to say this product was sent to me for my honest review; I think I've been the original M. you all know, no sugar added. I wouldn't repurchase this. BUT if your nails are flat you will probably be luckier than me with them.

Take care y'all!

Fail mani. Episode 1.

Hao,

How's everything? We're lusting over Friday, right? Unavoidable.

I wanted to complete today's cycle and crown the day with a fail post. I like harmony, in everything. Fail or fly. But I ain't flyin' today.

That's a manicure I had high hopes in. I started with two coats of China Glaze liquid leather, and decided to go to an official English exam with it, having slept 4 hours. I don't know how I managed to pass, but I do remember the old owl I had as my examiner for the oral test. I think she didn't pay attention to anything I mentionned (share capital, right of first refusal and all that legal english chatter), she kept staring at my hands. At my nails. Either she was entering on a true zensation or she was deeply disapproving. Never mind; I passed.

Black was good but not really my cup of tea. So I decided to fuck it up and slapped one thick coat of pink over it, yay! And I didn't like it, so I kept insisting on having a true "yuck" manicure. You know, there are times when you see you're losing it and you can't help but keep on going. And slam your face on a wall. That's what happened. Metaphorically.
Oh! How about some pink rhinestones to finally kill the mani I had imagined? Well, how about some pink shut the fuck up?! [Hey babe!]
Have you realized even the colors of that first picture are pure distilled crap? 1 up.

Anyhow, what's done is done. And that has sure been joyfully removed!

See you,

M.
