For today's theme, Metallic, I decided to give a second chance to Foil. My previous try was so lousy that I didn't even take a picture of it. I was nervous and felt like I needed it to come out nicely, just for the life of me. Well guess what? It didn't. At all. See, for me nail art is like cooking; I have to feel good to achieve something nice. And self-imposed pressure makes me look like a mix between E.T. and a kraken. Like so:
Whatever. I tried to nail-art with foil again, after taking some kind of psychotropic drug like pure holidays, and here's what came out:
What I like about this is that the pink seems to have chipped in a way that lets the gold underneath peek out, when it's actually the other way around. My brains are known to make weird associations, and when I look at manicures like this all I see is Terminator's face, half ripped off with his true machine self saying hi. Am I a weirdo? Just... don't answer that.
I bought the foil off eBay for almost nothing (five foils for less than Eur. 2, shipping included), and this one was the gold holographic one. The base color is from Kiko's new collection, Quick Dry nº 808 Pearly Watermelon Pink. Now let me say this: I was darn scared to put it on after reading some negative reviews of its siblings, but this is just ONE coat of Pearly Watermelon Pink! Colour me impressed!
If you want to try this method, here's a useful tutorial by ChrissyAi. It's really as simple as that :)
I‘m following you with GF and Blogloving! I'll be glad if you follow me too )
Thank you, Alena! :DEliminar
Haha, that picture made my day!ResponderEliminar
Really like the mani as well Pink and gold are my kinda colours!
I am glad it did! I can only laugh when I see it..! :D Thank you!Eliminar
That picture is hilarious! Your mani looks amazing!ResponderEliminar
That pink is so pretty...and only 1 coat? Nice! I really like the way the foil turned out.ResponderEliminar
Yuuuup! :D Thank you!Eliminar
Beautiful. And such a lovely pink.ResponderEliminar
It looks great, and the combination of pink and gold looks amazing :)ResponderEliminar
Terminator's face - damn right, alright! :D This looks like a piece of an antique work of art! :)ResponderEliminar
And I know the feeling - foil and I don't work well together. Foil rips my patience apart and I rip it in pieces that look like bollocks on my nails - psshhh!
I've used this same tutorial by ChrissyAi (even the same 'colours') and I gotta say it's the only way I can do it without going totally mental!
hahaha :p You made me laugh with that comment! I do exactly the same... rip it off 'cuz it just won't stick like it should! It gets on my nerves..!Eliminar
Definitely just LOL'd out loud at that picture at the top haha!! But your nails came out really beautifully!! I've never tried foil before but I definitely want to now you nails look fantastic!! :)ResponderEliminar

:D Yay! Thanks Natalie!Eliminar
Ha, hard to imagine you like that first photo! :P I really like this mani... yes it looks like the pink has been chipped away to reveal the gold underneath. :)ResponderEliminar
:p hopefully I don't get even half as ugly!Eliminar
DAY-UMMM, the manis tonight are rocking! You have just killed it, girl! Wow.ResponderEliminar
I can see all sorts of images in that mani. Kinda like a Rorschach test?!?! LOL. Right?
This is absolutely beautiful, M! Magnificently wearable, and just Thank Gawd that it turned out great, so you didn't have to go all E.T. and kraken on us. Cause, hon...that's never a good look. <3 :)
hahahaha, I wonder what the Rorschach test would say! I am glad you like it!Eliminar
I'm loving the blog-lift.
Just putting that out there...

Wow - so pretty! I've never used foil but you make me want to get some and give it a go :)ResponderEliminar
Please do! And let me see what you come up with! :DEliminar
So So pretty! hahaha! It felt like gold peeking out from underneath for me too =P I reallly need to get on foiling sometime! Loving the effects I see poeple pulling off! :)ResponderEliminar
Thank you! You should give it a go! It gives a mani an antique look that's so interesting..!Eliminar

I agree! :D Thanks Diana!Eliminar
Love the combo, it looks fab!ResponderEliminar
Thank youuuuu! :DEliminar
LOL loved your story ;-)ResponderEliminar
As for the foil - it's a tricky one. I think you need to try it some more. Did you use foil glue or just the nail polish?
Thanks! I used just clear polish, but maybe I am wrong thinking foil glue is rubbish?Eliminar
"And self-imposed pressure makes me look like a mix between E.T. and a kraken." ROTFL.ResponderEliminar
I know how you feel. I have a similar reaction, but I also curse. A lot. :D
Anyway, the final result here it's stunning! I have to try my foils, I bought them a lot of time ago but never used them yet.
:p I do curse too! hahaha but I can't help it, it just feels right at that moment! Thank you, Cristina!Eliminar
I love the comparison to Terminator! It looks great!ResponderEliminar
Thanks Gini :DEliminar
You're too hard on yourself! I think it turned out more than just quite alright, and I love your reference to Terminator! I can see it too now. ;DResponderEliminar

This came out awesome! The Terminator would be proud! ;)ResponderEliminar
Kimber! I hope he would... I loved him when I was a child. Yup, a weird child. Meh..Eliminar
I'm glad the Kiko was a good one and at this point I hope my Tiffany one was a fail bottle!ResponderEliminar
Simona! I bought the blue too so I'll let you know if it's the color or just the bottle you have! Hopefully it's the latter, because it was such a nice color!Eliminar
Your mani is absolutely gorgeous and your post just made my day LOLResponderEliminar
